Lovely hotel, has so much character. I loved the decor, reminiscent of 1930s style. Very nice bar area with comfortable red velvet chairs you can lounge in while enjoying a drink or two before bed. Room was nice, very clean with a comfortable bed and pillows you can snuggle into after a long day of exploring the city. Breakfast was a buffet with a nice and delicious selection of food to eat. Hotel is in a nice quiet area of the city, so you can get a good night sleep. It's a very short tram ride to the city centre (tram no. 24) and even shorter ride to the museum quarter (tram no. 5). Both trams leaving from the same stop, that is 3 minute walk from hotel, called Beethovenstraat (as the name of the road). Museum Quarter is 15 min walking distance if you want to walk it. Book tickets in advance (online only) for Anne Frank House and Van Gogh Museum as they get sold out really fast. From Schiphol Airport, using public transport, take any train going to Station Zuid (South Station, just 1 stop with train no.3). When you come out of the station walk straight, climb the stairs and you'll come out onto the road with tram stops. Catch tram no. 5, ride for 2 stops to Beethovenstaat and walk for 3 min to Apollofirst Hotel. You can also catch Airport Express Bus 397 from Schiphol that stops near the hotel. If it's your first time in Amsterdam, be aware, there are A LOT of cyclists. It's amazing and I loved it, but some of them are so fast, you wouldn't see them until it's too late, so be aware of what is happening around you. It was a wonderful stay, in a great hotel and a city that is very unique indeed.

The hotel is small and intimate with alot of character . It’s located a few minutes walk from a busy shopping street with some nice restaurants and bars. Very importantly the no 5 and 24 trams stop on that street and can bring you to Central Station and The Jordaan and can also bring you to Station Suid which links directly to the airport . Breakfast is really nice and relaxed and all the staff were friendly and professional . All in all it was a lovely place to stay in Amsterdam . It’s not in the centre but the links are so good that it’s not a problem and the more peaceful area is a nice contrast to sightseeing in the city centre all day . I would highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel's location is excellent , using the two tram lines - 5 & 24 - who's shared tram stop is only a 5 min walk from the hotel, provide direct access to Amsterdan South and Central train stations respectively, and also in the case of tram 24 direct access to Amsterdan city centre, so access from Schipol airport or by if coming to Amsterdam by main rail lines couldn't be easier. The Apollofirst is a very nice family run boutique, staff very friendly and especially so the two older gentlemen at breakfast, breakfast was excellent, hotel very clean and tidy and to top it off a lovely bar to enjoy a relaxing evening after a long day in Amsterdam

We loved the location and the chic look of the hotel lobby and common areas. Our room (#54) faced the street and was very comfortable. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the decor, while a bit dated fit the style of the hotel. We had adult children in two more room on the same floor and they all loved their rooms. Breakfast is in a gorgeous, well - appointment, light filled room. The food was typical European and the staff was extremely attentive. The neighborhood is upscale with nice restaurants and shops. Right around the corner is easy access to the tram into town. While we had a car, we used the tram system every day.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. So much character and such richness to the decor and look of the reception area. The room was fairly small, but so comfortable! The beds were beautifully made up everyday and we slept really well. The shower was excellent and there was tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, a tv and an added bonus - a balcony over a stunning little courtyard. The reception staff were so friendly, kind and multi-lingual!
